Community Revitalization

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA

Scott Wilets served as Project Manager at EDG Architects for the revitalization of 279 apartment units, community spaces, grounds, and a new rental office/community building at the Janna Lee Apartments near Mount Vernon, Virginia. The garden apartments received face-lifts with new covered entries, fresh colors, and the incorporation of day-care and related community spaces. The pool area was also renovated, with the pool house reconfigured to provide full handicap accessibility. Landscaping scope included new planting, fences, and low slope walkways that allowed for the removal of steps for greater accessibility. The new Community Building features a large meeting space, an exercise room, and rental and staff offices. Its strong roof line was designed to be a playful take on the new covered entries at the apartment buildings, helping to create an iconic image for this sprawling complex.
